We Made it – Car #99 – thank you for supporting us in the variety WA 2020 Ruby Bash

21st Century Business Director, Chris Ecseri was fortunate enough to take part in the Variety W.A – Ruby Road Bash over the weekend. Together with his buddies Paul, Kohen and Justin, they managed to raise over $30,000 for CAR #99 – landing them in the TOP 5 Fundraisers for the event – That accolade and our matching Colour rainbow shirts and hats also gave us the privilege of presenting donations to Carson Street school, Collie Senior High School and Dwellingup primary school on our journey around the dirt roads of the South West.

Overall the whole event over 4 days raised over $500,000 for W.A. kids in need.

Thank you to all our customers, Suppliers and colleagues who supported me on this journey. The contributions that you made helped a wonderful cause and helped many schools and children in W.A. with special needs, disabilities and learning difficulties – to help them live as normal life as possible.

OUR JOURNEY – DAY 1

The First Stop was Carson Street School in East Vic Park. That was followed by a quick lunch in Kalamunda before the cruiser cars hit the tarmac and the Basher cars and the 4WD’s hit the dirt road through the Mundaring Power line trail.

The trail was reasonably challenging for the 4WD’s but I was blown away how the Basher cars were on our tail and keeping up the whole time. For some, perhaps their confidence outweighed their ability, with the Turtles car getting bogged in a muddy patch, The angry birds car loosing the backend and colliding with a tree stump and the Lifesavers 4WD attempting a puddle cross that tuned into more like a swimming pool with water up to the bottom of the steering wheel.

Fortunately all cars survived (with some minor repairs) and we were back on the road.

The evening saw us arrive in York, beers in hand, where we had a quick wash down at the Settlers house and the campers headed off to the greenfields tavern where we had an evening function and a few (more) drinks…

DAY 2 saw us leaving York and making our way to Collie and an evening at a surprise location. The road was less challenging but a lot more dusty which made it necessary to stop along the way to wash the dust out of our throats😊

Including a Border Patrol stop where we were checked for Contra band and Corona Virus. Thank god they had an early release of the CV19 vaccine available – a bit strange they served it in a shot glass though….

The evening was a fun filled event at a winery and Gin Distillery with the theme being Octoberfest and an amazing “glamping” camp setup. Shame it was about 2 degrees at night but lucky we were too far gone to feel anything except our hangover!

DAY 3 saw us make our way to Dwellingup across more dirt roads and “fun stops” and some absolutely magic scenery of rolling hills and lush green paddocks.

On arrival CAR#99 checked into a small B&B next to the caravan park called the Bush retreat where we quickly grabbed a shower and made our way to the train station and jumped on the Hotham Valley Train – heading off to our next destination – and most importantly to watch the AFL GRAND FINAL.

What a spectacular farm and wonderful hosts we had for the final evening of the event – topped off with Fireworks to match Australia Day!

FINAL DAY – After a very good night sleep on a Mattress! We headed off to Dwellingup Primary school for Bacon and egg rolls for Breakfast and a few more presentations by the men in the rainbow shirts.

More of the beautiful country and dirt roads as we headed for Rockingham for a parade of the cars through the streets and a formation on the Rockingham Village green oval where we had spectators and supporters admire our efforts and dirty Cars.

Thanks for reading about the journey and thank you for support me and Variety W.A.
